my main interest lies in the observation of different concepts concerning the perception of time.
I translate this observation in objects, installations and more recently in photos (polaroids) and drawings. I want to intervene with the reality around me and make it mine by reconstructing it.
the material I use plays a significant role in these reconstructions. the material I use most are blankets. It is an intriguing and polyvalent material with contradictionary qualities. blankets protect and give warmth. they suggest comfort but can also be experienced as oppressive, irritating and often a fire hazard. the soft texture emphasizes with the elusiveness of my chosen subjects.

besides from the objects i create from blankets, i also work sitespecific. in works like "artifex in her habitat" (2006) i develop expansive stagings in which single artworks are used as a material for a bigger sort of 'gesamtkunstwerk'.

following this approach, i started to collaborate with the artist ben kruisdijk in 2007 and we developed a series of installations together where we research all the aspects of the artist-existence.
in our collaborative work +51° 44' 30.70, +6° 36' 52.60, we packed an artificial donkey with all the work we produced untill 2007.
the idea of waiting and exploring is applied here to the migrant life of the modern artist.

at the moment I am working on the project "expedition: in search of the echo of the big bang". startingpoint was the work: "channel zero" (2007). i am fascinated by a television broadcasting noise/snow.
there is a pseudo-scientific theory which claims this noise is the echo of the big bang. despite the uncertain truth behind this theory, it sparks my imagination! are we really looking at the echo of the big bang here?? the echo of our origin of existence??

this 'expedition' is a long road of exploration and making work. it handles with the origin of everything and the unknown. this research makes me travel through centuries of knowledge about physics, religion, philosophy, politics and human existence.

the first aspects of research i have worked out in a few works and an installation where the earliest ideas about the universe are represented and translated to the here and now. my approach and elaboration are not in a scientific manner but figments of the imagination inspired by science.
